1,280 days ago, I woke up early in Valencia, drove to Alicante, caught a flight to Birmingham, took a taxi straight to Villa Park, and practically sat down in my seat at the stadium just as the referee blew the whistle for the kickoff of the match between the home side and Manchester United.
It was Unai Emery’s Premier League debut, and I felt I had to be there.
