Hansi Flick has reached a contract extension with Barcelona that will keep him at the helm of the La Liga champions until at least 2028, with an option for an additional year. The club has yet to officially announce the deal.
Speaking on Tuesday, Flick expressed gratitude for the trust shown by the board, stating, “I am very grateful. We have a contract until 2028, and we will see after that. If everything goes well, both parties have the right to extend for another year. I think it is a good deal, especially for me.”
Flick also revealed Barcelona’s ambition to break the 100-point barrier in the final three rounds of the season. The team currently sits on 91 points after securing the title with a 2-0 win over Real Madrid in El Clásico last Sunday. Barcelona will face Alavés away on Wednesday.
“The team and I want to reach 100 points, so we must win the remaining three matches,” Flick said. He took over from Xavi Hernández in May 2024, having previously managed Bayern Munich and the German national team. Flick had earlier indicated that Barcelona would be his final coaching stop. “In the past few days, they made me believe I came to the right place,” he added.
