The 2026 Eurovision Song Contest is shaping up to be one of the most controversial editions in recent memory. With Spain among the countries absent due to Israel’s participation, many are asking where they can watch the world’s most important music festival. It’s worth noting that Radio Televisión Española (RTVE) has decided not to broadcast the gala as a protest against the European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) decision.
Spain’s withdrawal, especially as a member of the so-called “Big Five,” marks one of the most contentious moments in Eurovision history. This will be the 70th edition of the contest, scheduled for May 12, 14, and 16.
The Austrian city of Vienna will host this year’s gala, which will begin at its usual time—21:00 Spanish time. Among the “Big Five” countries, Spain is the only one that has chosen not to participate in Eurovision 2026 after the EBU allowed Israel to compete, a move some countries accuse of being complicit in genocide in Palestine.

Where to Watch Eurovision 2026 from Spain?
Since RTVE will opt to broadcast alternative content on those days—especially during the grand final on May 16—the only way to watch Eurovision from Spain is through the festival’s official YouTube channel, where both semifinals and the final can be streamed live.
It’s important to note that Spain is not the only country to have pulled out of Eurovision 2026 in protest. Other historic participants have also chosen to boycott the event, including the Netherlands, Ireland, Iceland, and Slovenia. Despite this collective action, the EBU has not moved to ban Israel from the competition.
